MICHAEL BONFIGLI PHOTOGRAPHER

About me

Michael Bonfigli is a Washington DC based photojournalist who specializes in making timeless, beautiful and elegant photographs of your wedding day.

Raised by Argentine parents in a small town in Vermont, Michael Bonfigli's interest in photography began with a family trip to Buenos Aires when he was 10. His uncle Jack was a photographer who had beautiful black and white images on his walls. Once back in Vermont his father reinforced this new found interest as he would develop his prints in the bath tub as little Michael watched in amazement the magic unfold before him..

After a few life changing months working as a tennis pro in Mexico, (the exposure to the poverty and inequities in that region of the world) Michael's passion for travel and a desire to help others led him to join the Peace Corps to work with the Honduran people on the North Coast. It was there that he became specifically interested in documentary photography. After the Peace Corps, he pursued a career in education; however, photography remained a constant pursuit. In 1997, Michael decided to pursue photography as a career.

Michael has been featured in The Washingtonian magazine (now Bride and Groom) for the past 10 years as one of the area’s premier wedding photojournalists. He is also featured in DC Magazine, The Knot Magazine, Brides Magazine, and Grace Ormonde Wedding Style. Michael captures the beauty, emotion, and joy of each wedding in a style that is both natural and artistic.

Michael lives in Mt. Pleasant, Northwest Washington, DC, with his 4-year-old son, Luca.
